The main teachings of the Quran are the oneness of God. His power is shared by nothing and nothing should be worshipped rather than Him. This is clearly written in Surah Al-Ikhlas and it is as follows: say He is Allah, The One. Allah, desperate Retreat. He does not spring and neither is born. No thing equal is to Him. This faith liberates you against false dependencies.You do not depend on people, on your position, on wealth.It will determine your prayers, choices and aspirations.Put your entire trust in Allah alone.
2. Taqwa: Constant God-Consciousness
Taqwa refers to consciousness of Allah in all your words, actions and thoughts. It is your internal barometer. O you who believe, take fear of Allah and fear Him as He ought to be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. This is because they believed in Allah(Quran 3:102) Form the habit of remembering Allah all the time which is Taqwa. Put the question thus: Does Allah approve of this action? Taqwa means allah lauves and protects it before you do
3. Purpose of Life: Worship and Service
Your purpose in being here
is to serve Allah and be His servant on Earth and to worship Allah. It does not
make them jinn and man to worship me. (Quran 51:56) There is more to true
worship than ritual. It incorporates working honestly, being kind and
maintaining justice. Perceive your everyday duties as something which is
pleasing to Allah.Live mindfully.
4. Firmness in Prayer (Salah)
Salah is the direct, day to day communion with Allah. It is a cornerstone to having faith and a seat of discipline. Institute prayer, praying suppresses immorality and wrong actions. And He said: Alive is the one to whom I have said says: The one whatever he orders that is what befalls you. (Quran 29:45) Protect your prayers. Do them and at the right time with concentration. Make Salah the center on which you build your day and clean your heart.
5. Justice: Inadvisable Liability
God requires total justice
even towards oneself or loved ones as written down in the Quran. O ye who
believe! stand out firmly for justice, as the witness of Allah, even as against
yourselves, or your parents and kinsfolk. Verily, we have granted you the
withholding of the commandment (to the family of your wives) which you
requested; (Quran 4:135) Be impartial in matters, words and verdicts. Boycott
injustice wherever it may be. Justice brings confidence in a society.A strong
society is the just society.It is all about your own integrity.
6. Patience (Sabr) is Strength
Life comes with tests. Sabr
is patience in adversity, submission and sin avoidance. Patience and prayer are
a means to seek help. It is true that Allah is on the side of the
patient." To ask forgiveness is a commandment in the Quran (2,153). It is
in time of need that we call on Allah. Have faith in His time. Think of the huge
patience of Prophet Ayyub in the time of serious illness.Patience gives
enormous reward and spiritual development.
7. Gratitude (Shukr) Transforms Perspective
Give thanks to Allah by his
numerous favours, whether great or small. Today I am blessed because of
gratitude. and when you would express gratitude i will certainly make thee more
great." ["We made it so that whoever does what is right will be
accepted and whoever does what is wrong will hold their place and their place
will be the Hellfire" (Quran 14:7)] Begin and end your day in gratitude to
Allah.Practice either spoken or acted gratitude. Change your thoughts to stop
focusing on the lack of but focus on the abundance.
8. Trust in Allah (Tawakkul) with Action
Trust in Allah fully having
tried your level best. Put effort and faith in His will. But whoso putteth his
trust in Allah - He sufficiteth him. According to (Quran 65:3) Think, labor and
leave the result to Allah. Do not worry over the things which you feel you have
no control.Peace and resilience comes through true trust.
9. There is a high regard on knowledge
There is repetition in Quran
to seek knowledge. It encourages the knowledgeable. Can those that know compare
to those that do not know? Verily! the believers do triumph (Quran 39:9) Seek
the useful knowledge - both religious and worldly. Read the Quran with a
vision.Find answers to confront your faith.Never cease to ask questions of the
ulama and Muslim scholars.
10. Character Is Kindness and Mercy
Be kind to the whole creation- fellow
humans, animals and the natural world. Faith revolves around mercy. And We sent
you not, [O Muhammad], but as a mercy to the worlds. In (Quran 21:107), it is
stated: Speak softly. Support the needy. Forgive easily. Mercy should inform
your dealings.It will make people develop close bonds..
11. Guard Your Tongue and Actions b/c Words and deeds carry weight.
The saying and doing counts. With words/speak the truth, speak kindly. Shun gossips and slanderous, as well as, abusive words. Not a word does he say but he says, with him, [there is] an angel, ready to chronicle. In the Quran (Qu40:18), the Bible can be described as the guide of the whole world. You have to think before you talk. Question: Is it real? Is it something I have to do? Is this nice?" Demonstrate Islamic values in the way you act.Practice makes you a man of character..
12. The door to repentance (Tawbah) is Never Closed
The mercy of Allah is expansive.
Repentance destroys crimes. Repent to Him and come back soon. Say, O My
servants who have wronged themselves [through sinning], do not despair of the
mercy of Allah. In fact, Allah absolves every sin. Take your punishment, end the sin, swear
never to go back there and ask for forgiveness. Pray, never despair of repentance with Allah.Come back to
him ever.This is the open door.
13. Wealth of material is a Test
Money and belongings are a owe to Allah.
Take good, not arrogance or oppression, for its use."Your wealth and your
children are a test." O you, believest, it is not lawful to thee to
drive away with violence men and women to whom thou hast given promise of thy
seed; but come not last night nor yet on the next day: but right is that one
should perform the performance; no defect in the performance is seen: and it is
inviolate when thou hast entered in on this side: neither shalt thou violate
the tie of the marriage-bed, nor reject her upon whom thou hast performed the
performance in any way whatsoever: this hath been set forth to thee by God that
thou mayst not carry away the vir Pay mandatory (Zakat) and optional (Sadaqah)
charity. Avoid extravagance. It is piety and not possessions that are real
success.
14. Unity and brotherhood are essential
The Muslims form one
brotherhood. Cohesiveness and companionship is obliged. They are only brothers
of faith. Quran 49:10 Adore fellow Muslims. Help them. Practicing ethnicity or
status with such factors as race, nationality or social status should be
avoided. They should Stand together for truth and justice.
15. Life After Death: Ultimate Accountability
This life is temporary preparation for the eternal Hereafter. You will answer for your deeds."Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned." (Quran 29:57)
Live with the awareness of the Day of Judgment.Invest in actions with lasting benefit for your eternal life. Let this belief motivate you to do good and avoid evil.
